PHILANTHROPY AT SENTARA MARTHA JEFFERSON has been prominent throughout the long and distinguished history of our community hospital. While records of early charitable gifts might not be detailed on donor walls or in published lists, one can easily imagine that the physician-founders depended significantly upon the good will and generosity of the community in the early days of Martha Jefferson’s service, just as we do now.
As the physicians, staff and volunteers of Sentara Martha Jefferson deliver care in the new hospital, there is much gratitude for the vision, thoughtfulness, consideration, generosity and sacrifice that have gone into the design and realization of an environment of care that fosters so beautifully the healing and support of patients, families and caregivers.
One of the ways in which Sentara Martha Jefferson leaders, physicians and staff acknowledge and express gratitude for the heartfelt and impactful generosity that helps support our quality of care and Caring Tradition is through Martha Jefferson Hospital Foundation’s Donor Recognition Societies.
With the opening of the new hospital in August 2011, the Martha Jefferson Hospital Foundation Board and staff added three new philanthropic leadership recognition societies — the Capstone Society, President’s Circle and annual Martha Jefferson Society — through which the Foundation will recognize those individuals, foundations and corporations who place Sentara Martha Jefferson among their most significant philanthropic priorities.
